Why November 7?
Federal law sets presidential elections on "the Tuesday next after the first Monday in November" every fourth year. In 2028 the first Monday is November 6, so Election Day is Tuesday, November 7, 2028. Electors meet in December 2028 and Congress counts their votes on January 6, 2029; the next president is inaugurated on January 20, 2029.
